Minimal scent, hint of citrus. Strong tingle on tongue, but minimal burn. Not much flavor and smooth. Leaves you with a sense of satisfaction from a good rum. Additional sips change the flavor; sometimes oak with citrus, sometimes coffee or caramel. 9/10 no ice.

About this bottle
Diplomático Distillery Collection No.1 Batch Kettle Rum debuted in fall 2017 as one of two limited edition rums in the Distillery Collection. The collection's name refers to the different stills used by the brand. The Batch Kettle, a semi-continuous still, was acquired from Canada in 1959 and was previously used for whisky production. This rum was matured in American oak barrels, and each bottle includes a number and the distillation date.

This Batch Kettle still arrived in Venezuela in 1959, imported from Canada. It had previously been utilized for Canadian Whiskey creation. I sampled this at Dramfest '18. Lovely and rich. 4. However, it pushed the upper limit of my sweet preference.
Strong whisky presence with a rum aftertaste. A bit dry, lacking the typical rum sweetness.
Excellent rum for sipping, though not nearly as layered as the Barbet #2.
Following the first bottle, this one is more bitter with some citrus notes at the finish.
Caramel on the nose with a sweet, woody palate.
