About this bottle

This Mexican rum is produced using exclusively local sugar cane and employs contemporary methods alongside traditional rum-making principles. It undergoes maturation in American oak barrels, previously used for bourbon, within the tropical environment of the Yucatán Peninsula.

Just because it's marked down to $9 doesn't make it good. The smell is reminiscent of wet cat and overly young spirit, which I associate with cheap tequila and poor choices at parties in my youth. The taste is better than the smell, but that's not saying much. Sweet vanilla cream and excessive rawness from the young spirit. On the plus side, if I ever need a rum and coke, this will work perfectly since that will hide the burn.

I expected to enjoy this, as it seemed similar to another bottling I liked, but it has an unusual and not particularly pleasant finish. It's not for me.
