Saint James Rhum Paille Agricole

This 2021 bottling is even stranger than the prior one. I don’t know why I feel the need to shout. The oddity I’m referring to is that this rum has somehow made its way into the extremely undesirable "Daily Drinker" category within my poorly maintained beer cabinet, and it will remain there until the entire case is consumed. Yes, I purchased a case because each bottle was only $8 when bought in bulk. So, the price is undeniably the driving factor, but I must admit, though this spirit is somewhat light and watery, and its packaging resembles vegetable oil more than rum, it has genuinely grown on me. It's excellent in mixed drinks, smooth when poured over ice, and its gentleness, with a subtle hint of the vegetal complexity characteristic of agricole, genuinely lifts my spirits whenever I enjoy it, regardless of how I'm drinking it or the circumstances, even when I'm overusing the word 'partake'. You'll be grinning and singing along with a performer channeling classic Judy Garland tunes in no time. I'm unfamiliar with the term Paille, or I would insert some casual rum terminology here to solidify your confidence in my abilities and the merit of my tasting notes, dear reader, but unfortunately, I'm about to hit that perfect falsetto note right after the upcoming French horn solo, so we'll have to revisit that another time.
