Varela Hermanos manages the entire production process, from growing its own cane to fermentation, distillation, aging, and blending. The añejo, which is reportedly aged three years in white oak and presents a brilliant amber color, is the youngest in a range that also includes 7- and 12-year-old expressions, plus the limited Centuria edition.

This is quite enjoyable. A fantastic flavor profile that eludes me. It's reminiscent of a familiar candy, perhaps with a touch of rum. It might not be perfect, but I believe it would excel in a dark and stormy cocktail.
A quite acceptable “mixing” rum, inoffensive, you could try a sip if you want, but it’s so affordable that you won’t regret pouring it with cola.
Mellow flavor profile and a definite wooden note can be tasted. Mixes very well to create a blend of flavors I find to be both enjoyable & relaxing.
A decent, standard rum. A tiny bit superior to Bacardi, yet it costs a little more. Satisfying flavor with no clear faults, but it lacks excitement for a truly stellar rating.
This rum isn't as polished as some established ones, yet it possesses a gorgeous smoky character that alone makes it worthwhile.
Spicy heat. A little sweet. Woody character. Notes of coconut. Very suitable for cocktails but pleasant enough neat.
