About this bottle

Tequila El Mayor Reposado originates from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave, harvested in Jalisco. The agave is cooked in an autoclave and processed with a mill, differing from oven cooking and tahona crushing. It undergoes double distillation in copper-lined pot stills and matures for 9 months in American white oak before being bottled at 80 proof.

Harriett Devries 3.5

This Jalisco Reposado, imported by Luxco and priced in the mid-to-upper $20 range, could be considered a versatile Repo tequila. The aroma is exceptionally smooth and sweet, but doesn't offer much beyond fragrant agave, a few hints of spice, and a very faint smokiness; it's not particularly complex. The initial taste is spicy, with notes of citrus fruit and even some dry apple/pear, quickly followed by hot black pepper. The sweetness is subtle, and again, there's no heavy or intense smoke. It all fades rapidly, leaving a slight bitter cinnamon kick at the end along with the faint smoke. Overall, I enjoy the notes it presents, and its drier profile doesn't detract from it at all. This tequila would work well in cocktails or as shots and sippers, demonstrating real versatility without a high price tag. The attractive, classic corked bottle is a nice bonus. Cheers!

Mary Bravo 3.5

NOM 1063. Attractive presentation….mild with subtle honey, vanilla, and a touch of pepper. Finishes well. Not particularly woody, but enough to justify its classification. A good value purchase, if anything.

Odell Burris 3.5

Sweet nose featuring vanilla, agave, and citrus peel. The palate is sweet, primarily vanilla with undertones of black pepper and agave. Certainly tasty, but it loses points for a lack of complexity.

Bonita Deguzman 3.5

The aroma is quite sweet, but the taste is rather unremarkable. It lacks the complexity or grassy character it could possess, but it serves well as a mixer for margaritas and palomas.

Maeve Sepulveda 4.5

$24.59, $25.94 with tax. More traditional tequila flavor, with sweet agave, caramel apple, ash, oak, coconut, tobacco, and honey.

Lakisha Lindsey 4.3

Very good. Leans spicy, but remains complex enough and is highly drinkable.
