Alma Arthur 4.0

Served: Neat, in a flute. Bottle opened: Same day. Aroma: Sweet, dried mango. It lacks the vibrancy of cutting into a fresh mango, but that's expected of an unaltered distilled spirit. Flavor: Smooth, as is typical of many of Rhine Hall's products. The mango flavor is subtle while passing through but fully coats the palate and lingers long after swallowing. No unpleasant characteristics, very delicate. It's not offensive for sipping neat but would benefit from proper mixing. I'm interested to see how it performs in cocktails.

Rhys Ochoa 4.5

Fantastic. Served neat, it has notes of green mango and a slight musty funk. As it rests with ice, a subtle sweetness emerges. Adding just a bit of lime and Cointreau transforms it into a ripe, juicy, fresh mango flavor; truly remarkable. It's unfortunate it was a limited edition. This makes a case for mangoes to be a more popular choice for distillation and perhaps even to have their own category.
