About this bottle

Gatsby Reserve represents the most exclusive offering within the Remus Bourbon lineup from Ross & Squibb Distillery. Encased in an Art Deco-inspired bottle, this bourbon pays homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel "The Great Gatsby," utilizing some of the distillery's oldest bourbon reserves. This 2024 iteration, like its predecessors, has been aged for 15 years. Two different mash bills were employed: one with 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley, and another with 60% corn, 36% rye, and 4% malted barley. Bottled at 104.9 proof (52.45% ABV) cask strength, it is available in limited quantities starting in November 2024. (SRP $229.99)

Pete Deluca 4.8

Nose: Cherry, almond, perhaps amaretto? Palate: Indeed, more amaretto with some oak and spice Finish: A quick finish, but more cherry notes as it goes down, with a citrus and ginger note lingering. If it had a bit more body and a longer finish, it would have been perfect.

Melanie Clayton 4.0

Cherry is very present, especially dark or black cherry, both on the nose and palate. Starts tart as you would expect with Cherries and evolves into a short spicy/sweet and drier cherry finish. Very smooth and for cask strength very approachable.

Evelyn Byrnes 3.8

Spiced oak on the nose, the palate begins with heat, spice, and oak, finishing with caramel and brown sugar, perhaps a hint of cherry cola. A medium finish. I wish it had a bit more body. It's somewhat thin.

Adelaide Rupp 3.5

Very pleasant and flavorful. A good finish, but with a slightly unusual taste on the finish.
