About this bottle

This bottling was crafted by Master Blender David McCabe and Master Blender Emeritus Billy Leighton. It features a triple-distilled single pot still whiskey aged for 18 years in a mix of ex-bourbon, oloroso sherry, and cream sherry casks, with a small quantity also aged in ruby port barrels. In addition to being the first 18-year-old expression from Redbreast, it is also the inaugural bottling to include cream sherry casks. Redbreast 18 Year, a permanent addition to the brand's offerings, has been available globally since September 2024. (SRP $249.99)

Mariela Zhao 4.8

Nose: chocolate hazelnut, candied orange peel, creamy vanilla, toasted almonds, dried fig. A hint of blackberry jam, a bit of cinnamon. Palate: nutty, sweet, a nice well-rounded and full-bodied mouthfeel. Stewed orchard fruits, sweet sherry, baking spices and a prominent robust oak. There's a pleasant dark fruit note here as well. Caramelized vanilla cream. A nice bright but subtle orange zest note. A bit of ginger as it transitions to the finish. Finish: spicy, oaky and medium long.

Tamia Kilpatrick 4.5

Aroma: Citrus zest, cocoa, dried fig, date, toasted nuts, blackcurrant. A subtle malt undertone and a pleasant touch of dark wood. The barley is less prominent compared to the 12-year-old. Flavor: Smooth, with a strong oak presence, classic single pot still barley character, though again less noticeable than the 12-year-old. Dark chocolate-covered cherry, with hints of ginger. Sherry cask influence. Finish: Extended, with oak spice, a little bit of oak.

A pour from a festival. Really good with notes of Raisins, Gingerbread, Toffee, Christmas Cakes, Almonds, Guava, Luxardo Cherries, Blueberries, Milk Chocolate, and Grapefruit. Would be among my all-time favorites if it was at cask strength.
