BenRiach 15 Year Pedro Ximenez Finish

I've been enjoying some excellent whisky recently, what can I say? It's due to the samples. I purchased anything I read was good. And this one was good. It's bottled at 46% ABV and has a tawny color. The nose is quite distinctive, a mix of raisins and peanuts, like "orange raisin." That's it. Very memorable. There's also sherry, blackberry jam, a smoke reminiscent of a brandy shot, and perhaps grapes. A nice aroma. On the palate, it's very complex. Caramel, smoke, raisins, mint, oily like kerosene, ginger, tobacco, ashes, and heat. The finish is a bit oily, not the best kind. Overall, I rate this fantastic dram a 92 out of 100. I would recommend it, depending on the price. I bought a sample and don't know the full bottle's price, but $80 would be reasonable for it. Cheers!

A fantastic whisky tasted and purchased in May 2017, full-bodied, with excellent sherry notes, ranking among the best I've ever tasted (out of over 3,000 whiskies). It has a truly powerful nose, aromas, flavors, and a lingering finish that seems to last forever. Disregard all prior reviews: few whisky experts truly understand whisky, and the fact that wood contributes over 75% of flavors and aromas. In 2017, this is a gem. Yes, perhaps in the past, a year or more ago, when people tasted it, they experienced lesser quality barrels, but this current batch is genuinely exceptional and deserves over 91 points.

A real treat for sherry enthusiasts, especially if you enjoy Pedro Ximenez aromas. As someone who does, I found this whisky very enjoyable, particularly its finish where the dried raisin notes confirm themselves. The aroma is intricate, with dried fruits, caramel, and bright lemons, and the body is substantial and syrupy. Delightful!

Very good, but if you have the option, choose the Tawny Port finish instead, as it is considerably better and more distinctive. The PX finish on this particular bottling is noticeable, but with so many PX finishes available, it's not particularly special – even when compared to other Speyside options.

The finish leaves a lasting woody flavor that was the only aspect I found too intense. Otherwise, it's smooth and sophisticated for a sherry whisky.

Well, in the blind tasting at Giuseppe's, it wasn't that great... a Danish brand for the first time.
