Ransom Dry Gin is produced in Oregon, starting with a mash bill of malted barley and rye to create a "malt wine." Botanicals are steeped in a corn-based spirit. The gin undergoes distillation in a 10-hectoliter direct-fire pot-still. A surprisingly refined yet playful gin. On the nose, it's earthy, full of citrus aroma, and finishes with floral notes. The body is a little lacking, tasting somewhat bitter and grainy at the end, but the aroma is truly captivating. A contemporary yet worthwhile selection.
A friend noted bright citrus and floral notes, like a field of flowers. It has a lifting, effervescent finish despite not being carbonated. It's a pioneering gin.
