Bombay Sapphire East Gin

Honestly, while I typically don't care for London dry gin, it was quite interesting to encounter additional, definitely unique botanicals, considering how bland those British producers make their gin. It's quite a letdown to learn it was diluted and not bottled at a higher proof, but if I had to guess, I'm hoping this was done to let the new botanicals stand out. I anticipate savory and spicy flavors. A prominent lemon/lime zest aroma, with some milder white pepper, and just a hint of sweet wheat. The nose genuinely brings to mind a gin made with American rye, so this is a promising start for a London dry. The initial flavor is impacted by the proof, as the body is rather weak, but the classic juniper and citrus zest are present. A few moments later is when things become very dry, as anticipated. The lemongrass might be contributing to what I'm tasting initially, as the citrus notes are less pronounced than what I perceived on the nose. Allowing it to breathe does enhance the spice, but not with a botanical; instead, it introduces raw ethanol (unexpected given the proof). Ultimately, the botanical combination, including the new peppercorns, seems to meld into a gin ideal for a martini, but this wasn't my objective. A moderately strong finish. In summary, this presumably new gin is merely a marketing ploy with the addition of new botanicals, and diluting it didn't significantly improve it. It's absolutely ideal for a dry martini, but otherwise, it tastes like standard Bombay Sapphire, and if it cost more than the original (fortunately, it was inexpensive), I would overlook it in favor of the original.

Strong scents of lemongrass, juniper, and coriander, plus a hint of licorice. The texture is rich and smooth. Flavors include spice, citrus, and earth, with black peppercorn and lemongrass being very prominent, while juniper and coriander also reappear. The tastes are harmonious. The finish is moderately long with a slight roughness, but it doesn't detract too much from the overall enjoyment. 2.75/5.00 – Acceptable (neat)

Compared to standard Bombay, this has a stronger flavor. Prominent notes of lemongrass, with much more distinct juniper and cilantro. Ideal for a Gin and Tonic. The aroma is rich with botanicals, and can be quite overpowering compared to other gins I've experienced.

A variation on the standard Bombay Sapphire, though not drastically so. The additional botanicals lend a touch more of an exotic taste, but in my opinion, other Gins cater more effectively to a comparable consumer base.

A noteworthy new offering from Bombay. The taste of peppercorn and lemongrass is quite captivating. It's a fantastic value, easily found. A solid choice for a flavored drink.

at room temperature: can't really detect the added elements. lemongrass or peppercorn. when chilled: still can't taste the extras. it does make it much smoother, though. perhaps a faint taste at the end, but not significant.
