Ranger Creek .36 Texas Bourbon

Another Texas bourbon. Aged in small barrels and bottled in small containers. The nose is dusty and fruity with hints of dark caramel and oak. The palate has a Texas characteristic (sawdust/flour) with soft caramel, grassy hay, and toasted barrel. A good, long finish with sweet nougat, a touch of anise, and oaky goodness. Similar to Garrison Small Batch; if you enjoy that, you'll like this. Otherwise, skip it. It has good flavor depth but could benefit from more barrel aging. Tasty but seems overpriced for the content. Between this, Garrison Small, and Lone Elm Small, Lone Elm is superior. It offers better value with comparable taste qualities. I got this on sale at TW for $20 for a 375ml bottle, so no regrets. 83/100 score. You get what I mean.

Ranger Creek 36 Bourbon Aroma: sweet and rich with notes of green grains and damp hay, evolving into milk chocolate and cinnamon. Hints of Ceylon tea and honey are present, along with the characteristic funky Texas oak.

Color - Texas sunset Nose - cherries, vanilla, molasses, brown sugar Palate - bold and creamy, very full, some spice, more vanilla, more sugar Finish - spice, sugar, some wood towards the end A thick and full body, much like a true Texan beverage. That initial sip is potent but rewarding.

Aroma of toffee, chocolate, and pine nuts, with hints of peach and prune. The palate is warm, spicy, with a touch of rose, and somewhat dry, but features leather and persistent burnt sugar notes reminiscent of fine aged rum. The finish evokes caramel corn. A very respectable bourbon.

This was purchased during a journey to Texas. Although the scent lacks intensity, the flavor is unexpected. I enjoyed the spicy character with subtle sweet and smoky undertones. I am keen to try their more mature, larger bottlings in the future.

Surprisingly complex for a young bourbon. A strong burn without much sweetness. Notes of leather, smoke, coffee, and vanilla. Enjoyed with water to open it up and a couple of ice cubes to soften it.
