About this bottle

Rancho Tepua Bacanora is produced from 100% agave Pacífica, harvested by hand in the state of Sonora. Maestro Bacanorero Roberto Contreras, a fifth-generation producer, oversees the process, which involves wild fermentation and mesquite roasting of the agave for 36 hours. The spirit is twice distilled and then rested in glass before bottling.

Fannie Sherman 3.8

Notes of roasted agave, a touch of minerality, some cocoa/dairy/cheesy notes (the best way I can describe it) that I detect in certain durangensis and cupreata agaves, mild citrus, and vegetal qualities. Towards the end, you get grapefruit, a slight mineral taste, and mild mesquite smoke. This would be a great introduction to more common mezcals since I feel the smoke isn't overpowering but complements the other espadin characteristics. A nice first experience with Bacanora.

Nora Glenn 4.0

Mild smoke, vegetal notes, green bell pepper, and a slight funky cheesiness. A bit earthy. Nicely balanced. This is my first experience with Bacanora, and it still holds up quite well.

Angeline Kline 4.5

Enjoyable, smooth, and with a subtle tequila flavor.
