Albert Driver 3.0

Aroma: sugarcane juice, vanilla, lemon zest, grass, mint, anise, agave, white pepper, with a noticeable ethanol burn. Flavor: light molasses, vanilla, spearmint, chili powder, lemon oil, almond, anise, hay, pineapple, bell pepper, with a moderate to high alcohol bite. The finish is medium short, featuring light molasses, citrus oil, and earthy, zingy mint. These last few days of Privateer reviews have truly challenged my palate. Any taste buds not completely overwhelmed are begging for relief. These are potent rums, and this white overproof is no different. The aroma is grassy, herbaceous but not quite like an agricole. The signature strong, lemony citrus note from Privateer is also present. An interesting earthy sweetness has an almost cooked agave, tequila quality. The initial taste is bold with molasses and citrus oils. Almond and tropical fruit emerge, followed by a vegetal, bell pepper sweetness near the end. While I prefer the aged Privateers, this is a white overproof rum not intended for sipping neat. It's superior to Wray & Nephew and comparable to aged options like Lemon Hart, OFTD, and Smith & Cross. Thanks to a friend for another sample!
