About this bottle

"Rank wildcat" is a term for a real longshot oil well, and this rum takes a leap of faith. Acadiana's Own Sweet Crude is made from Louisiana sugarcane, described as being "as close to actual sugarcane juice as possible." Its creation utilizes "high-quality syrup and raw sugar," a process not tied to the seasonal cane harvest. A handcrafted stainless and copper still, named Lulu, handles the distillation. This product is currently available only within Louisiana.

The aroma suggests sugarcane – it's grassy without being herbaceous, sweet without being sharp, and complex. It's ripe, thick, rich, and vegetal. The flavor is tart and smooth, easy to sip. The finish is balanced and clean, with a brief burst of sugarcane before fading. Honestly, it's very easy to drink with just ice. Nothing is overpowering or harsh; it's balanced, though perhaps a bit mild. While it is a very balanced rum, I hesitate to say it, but it's almost unexciting.
