Penelope Barrel Strength Bourbon (Batch 2)

Nose: Despite being a Barrel Strength whisky, the aroma is pleasant and inviting. The scents are young and earthy, with notes of caramel corn, a touch of orange, and freshly cut hay. Palate: This spirit is clean and smooth, featuring the heat of cinnamon and a prominent corn flavor with a hint of white pepper. Being Barrel Strength, it's hot, but also smooth. The warmth subsides perfectly on the back of the tongue, allowing the rest of the experience to be enjoyable and smooth. Finish: The cinnamon lingers pleasingly on the tongue, perfectly complementing the aromas from the nose. As the cinnamon fades, the taste of sweet, creamy, natural raw corn, straight from the cob, emerges for a satisfying conclusion.

This whiskey greets you with prominent spice and vanilla on the nose, alongside notes of baking spices, flowery rye, and wood. The taste is a little dry, keeping the spice forward and pushing the oak and vanilla to the background, while molasses and scorched brown sugar fill the middle. It finishes moderately, with a lingering spice and a floral, slightly smooth oak that fades away.

Sweet vanilla and candy hit first, followed by spiced caramel on the palate. It leaves a pleasant, lingering sweetness and a comforting warmth. You can tell it's got character, but it doesn't burn! I prefer it neat, and just as I note that, my lips go tingly. This is a quality drink! Enjoy!

Why are bourbons aged only 2-3 years commanding a premium price again? The high alcohol content masks many flaws. Adding a few drops of water reveals them. Nose: vanilla, corn, oak Taste: strong cinnamon Finish: short Heaven Hill for $20 is much better than this.

Great rich, full-bodied flavor profile. Abundant vanilla with mild caramel. Hints of grass and a touch of spice. Nice container for the cost.

Spicy at first, with a satisfying burn appropriate for barrel strength. Vanilla is prominent, with a graham cracker taste coming through the middle. Quite good.
