Peerless Double Oak Bourbon

Rating: 4.10/5 (2022 release, 108.4 proof) Nose: Heavy brown sugar, leather, tobacco, and oak. A truly enjoyable nose that beckons you back. Palate: Burnt brown sugar, baking spices, leather, oaky. A perfect harmony of sweet and spicy, with neither element dominating. Finish: Initially, the finish was slightly dry, but this dissipated once the bottle had aired out. Medium-long finish. Burnt brown sugar, caramelized oak, and rich dark chocolate conclude this one with a perfect warmth to signify its 108 proof. Overall: I was pleasantly surprised by this. The dark and rich flavor profile really suited my palate. It's one of the better barrel-proof double oak options available.

This Peerless Double Oak is my new favorite. The packaging and presentation are top-notch, with a beautiful dark color to the liquid, and the flavor seems to have been tailored specifically to my palate. Dark, leathery, a bit of tobacco, and a hint of smoke. No filtration and no water added. Medium to full-bodied with only a slight burn. A definite buy. Updating my review. I'm on my second bottle now. This bottle seems even more delicious than the last. I've upgraded my score to a 5 right now, as personally, I haven't had anything better at this point.

Received a sample from a friend. Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium-dark amber. Nose: Caramel, vanilla, dark fruit. Palate: Cinnamon and baking spices, with some mild fruit notes. Finish: Long with medium heat. Splash: A slight nutty note appears that wasn't there before. Overall: 8.5/10 - This is classic bourbon in every aspect, and the high proof is only noticeable in the finish. The nutty flavor that emerges with a few drops of water is a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, it's too costly and scarce for regular consumption.

Nose: The color of this bourbon is stunning, and the double oak notes are immediately apparent upon smelling. Oak barrel, cinnamon spice, and caramel. Palate: The first few sips are a little hot, but the deep caramel flavor is the most prominent. It's big and bold. Finish: Dry and long with some distinct leather notes. I appreciate that this distillery uses a sweet mash bill and a low entry proof when barreling the whiskey. In my opinion, a lower entry proof allows for more flavor in brands like this or another well-known one.

Nose - Marshmallow, sweet candied pecan, grape, musty wood. Palate - Strong wood presence, with the sweetness of pecan throughout its viscous texture. Finish - No strong distinct note, with the woodiness being the primary experience throughout. A deep, satisfying double-oaked experience, and one of the thicker, more viscous spirits. However, the pleasant sweetness from the nose doesn't quite carry through as strongly. Overall, a solid pour, though it leaves a bit to be desired.

Nose: Dark orange, caramel, maple syrup, and heavily toasted oak, classic double oak sweetness with a vibrant citrus lift. Palate: Orange cream and burnt caramel at the start, becoming dry and tannic with bitter oak and cinnamon. Finish: Medium, coating the mouth, and quite drying; oak and spice linger with a hint of cocoa bitterness. Overall: A beautiful nose but the palate is excessively driven by wood. The oak overwhelms the sweetness.
