Their still is a custom-made copper pot capable of reaching an incredible 92% ABV during the first distillation; consequently, Penderyn is among the few single distilled whiskies originating from the UK. The Myth is part of the distillery's "Welsh Dragon" collection of 41% ABV offerings, alongside Celt and Legend. It deviates from the distillery's typical practice of finishing in ex-Madeira wine casks, exclusively using ex-bourbon American oak to highlight the whisky's natural characteristics without the Madeira wine influence. The spirit is bottled at 41% ABV and is not chill-filtered. Delicate, sugary sweet, low pepper, not many distinct scents on the nose, caramel. 2.75 A fruity burst hits you with passion fruit, pears, apples, but it vanishes quickly. Light pepper, creamy, malty cereal. 2.75 Not a long finish. 2 2.5 Penderyn Myth Welsh Whisky ABV 41% Sweet corn aroma (seems to be a defining trait of English whisky). This is more subtle than Penderyn Celt, but it has a very pleasant softness and a floral, peppery scent up close. 3 Unripe apple and pear notes. Not very sweet, but a very clean-tasting whisky. You detect a hint of oak. Not very complex compared to the Celt, with a slight peppery sensation towards the back of the throat. 2.25 Oaky, dry. Medium sustain. 2.25 2.5

Nose - Rather youthful, with a sweet ethanol sharpness reminiscent of new spirit not aged enough to mellow, plus faint green apple and a touch of floral. Taste - A thin mouthfeel, featuring green apples, a slight bitterness like apple stems, a gentle ginger warmth, and a hint of over-steeped tea towards the end. Finish - A rather quick finish with lingering notes of green apple peels and over-steeped green tea. Score - 66/100 Overall Impression - This initially gave the impression of being quite young due to the raw ethanol vibe. It's very one-dimensional, dominated by fresh, unripe green apples with a mild fruity bitterness that, while not terrible, is generally uninspiring. Would I drink it if offered? - Possibly Would I specifically order it? - No Would I buy a bottle? - No

Excellent whiskey, demonstrating two points: first, that Scotland isn't the sole producer of exceptional whiskey in the United Kingdom, and second, that enjoyable whiskey doesn't require a high price. This spirit shares characteristics with expected lowland whiskies: fruity and delicate. The aroma and taste offer hints of cherries, pears, and an unidentified spice (perhaps clove) that harmonize beautifully. The finish is somewhat brief and lacking, but there's very little to criticize here. Cheers!

Quite pleasant. I acquired a bottle unexpectedly, and it's light yet very drinkable. The aroma is quite fruity and floral, with hints of peach and vanilla. Marzipan is quite prominent after a moment of smelling. The taste is a bit more intense, with a woodier profile, reminiscent of toffee apples and marzipan. It grows sweeter with more sips. The finish is short, with wood and vanilla notes.

My inaugural Welsh whiskey. The aroma is light and floral, with notes of citrus and apple. On the palate, there are tastes of apples, pears, and melon. Vanilla emerges, leading to a soft, clean finish. A pleasant introduction to Welsh whiskey.
