Penderyn Sherrywood

★★★★ This is right up my alley! This sherry cask-aged whisky is exactly to my taste. A lovely fruity presence that coats the mouth before a spicier finish adds some zest to this delicious product. I wish I could find more products like this at this price point in our stores:-)

Vibrant, distinctive, and fruity with a warm mouthfeel. High notes, perhaps a touch of brine? Salty, with pomegranate notes; it's different. As a first experience with Welsh whiskey, it's intriguing and would serve wonderfully as a dessert whiskey. The mouthfeel persists and awakens the palate. Some tannins are noticeable.

Nose: Sherry notes, but not overly dark; it's more like berries and pear with cinnamon and a slight alcohol burn. Palate: Very gentle initially, followed by honey sweetness and a mouth-coating texture with nutty notes. Finish: Sweet, spicy, slightly drying, with nutty and savory characteristics.

Fantastic! A powerful sherry bomb 💣 with lovely sweet fruits on the palate, followed by a beautiful long finish. As a Welshman, I'm very partial to this distillery anyway, but this is superb.

It's slightly spicy with a discernible sherry presence. Unfortunately, it's a bit too thin overall, and its flavors don't hold up well against many Scotches aged in similar casks.

This is really smooth with subtle vanilla notes. I'm glad it's not overpowering. It has a strong apple presence for me. I enjoy this affordable single malt from Wales.
