Jeanne Shelley 3.8

Consumed neat, chilled directly from the refrigerator. The color is a deep yellow, appearing slightly milky, with thick, clinging legs in the glass. The aroma is floral, with notes of lemon, vanilla, and sweetness. On the palate, it's syrupy sweet, but with a distinct vanilla lemonade flavor. It's soft, floral, with just a touch of bitter lemon peel. The mouthfeel is smooth, coating, with minimal ethanol warmth. The finish is short and sweet, but the lemon undertone persists and lingers on the tongue, reminiscent of vanilla and lemon hard candy. It's enjoyable. I had anticipated a more pronounced, sharper citrus flavor, similar to Luxardo (my preferred brand), but it aligns with the profile of most Italian limoncello, leaning more towards sweetness than acidity or bitterness. It's superior to most (perhaps ranking second or third on my list of favorites) and has a lower alcohol content (which is a drawback). A very competent, mild after-dinner digestif.

The aroma is sweet lemon with just a touch of alcohol at the end. Sweetness dominates the palate with a candied lemon flavor. A slight burn appears in the finish, which then settles into a pleasant warmth in the chest. Best consumed after a meal to feel nicely satisfied. Serve cold.

A delightful lemon flavor runs throughout, complemented by a vibrant color. Expect a sweet, almost confection-like experience.

Margo Nash 1.8

Thick and sweet but with clear lemon flavor. There's also a minor alcohol sting on the finish

Tastes like furniture polish smells to me. Might have been great otherwise.
