Rich, sweet nose with notes of cherry fruit leather and tropical punch, yet somehow deeper and more sophisticated. Very sweet but balanced. The palate is reminiscent of cherry cough syrup with a floral note, and rose Turkish delight. It becomes slightly more tart towards the end, just enough to stimulate the appetite. For those who don't typically drink mixed drinks, this product is quite similar to Cherry Heering, often mistaken for maraschino liqueur. However, avoid that error. While maraschino liqueur is excellent in bourbon, it will spoil anything other than a "Blood and Sand". Similarly, though maraschino is far too sweet to consume straight, this absolutely should be; it's almost like a pre-made sour that requires no additions.

About this bottle
Included in the Luxardo collection since 1821, Luxardo Cherry "Sangue Morlacco" is infused with marasca cherry, a type of sour cherry. The name "Sangue Morlacco," meaning "Morlacco blood," refers to the liqueur's deep red hue and a historical group from the Dalmatian hinterland in the 17th and 18th centuries. The Italian poet Gabriele D’Annunzio originated the name in 1919, leading to the liqueur's renaming almost a century after its initial creation.

This is a variation of Luxardo Cherry, serving as a standard reference point. Its subtle complexity makes it suitable for typical uses.
Deep, dark black cherry hue. Sour cherry, cherry pie on the nose. Thick and potent cherry on the palate, sweet and sour with a slight bite.
Extremely rich and fruity, quite sweet but enjoyable when mixed with cola or lemonade.
Excellent in an old-fashioned with a Luxardo cherry.
Delicious!
