Part of DIAGEO'S 2023 Special Releases collection, Oban The Soul of Calypso is one of eight bottlings themed around "Spirited Xchange," honoring the global journeys of Scotch, countries, and cultures. Dr. Stuart Morrison, Master Blender, selected this whisky, which was finished in Caribbean pot still rum casks. It is bottled at 58% ABV and became available in limited quantities in the US starting in October 2023. (SRP $140)

Nose: Bright and fresh, with scents of sea salt, ripe pear, green apple, and a touch of vanilla cream. Palate: Powerful and vibrant at full strength, featuring flavors of sweet citrus, orchard fruits, toasted oak, and a hint of spice. Finish: Lingering and warming, with notes of salted caramel, peppery spice, and a subtle maritime smokiness.
Smell: notes of fruit, flowers, vanilla Taste: flavors of saltiness, spice, caramel Much more intense in taste than the pale color and floral scent would suggest.
Peaty and smoky, my wife likes it.
