About this bottle

The Nikka Yoichi Sherry & Sweet is exclusively available for purchase directly from the distillery located in Hokkaido. This series, exclusive to the distillery, adopts a novel approach to Non-Age Statement (NAS) single malts by explicitly detailing the anticipated flavor profile and notes on the label. Nikka's Miyagikyo distillery has implemented a similar strategy with its own collection of distillery-exclusive bottlings.

Milo Hershberger 4.3

The third bottle acquired from this collection, and it lives up to its name just as well as the previous two. It's such an intensely oaked sherry profile that I'd liken it to a young, cask strength Macallan – if such a thing existed. It’s potent but enjoyable and multifaceted. 93

Josiah Saldana 5.0

Excellent spirit with hints of raisins, raspberries, chocolate, toffee, some plums, a touch of peat, pepper, and a little sea salt. It's bright and bold with a pleasingly creamy, smooth, slightly nutty texture. It's sweeter than the Yoichi 15/20.

Shari Gossett 3.0

It bears some resemblance to Macallan. Of the 3 exclusives, this one most strongly exhibits the burn from the 110 proof, which overshadows some of the sweetness. Palate is thin but eventful. Finish is lingering fire and smoke.

Elaine Urban 3.0

The sherry is clearly detectable and enhances the overall sweetness. Generally an easy-drinking spirit with subtle smoky notes.

Tyler Meier 3.8

Smoky with a sweet, fruity character. Primarily raisins, based on my perception.

Nathanael Hanna 4.0

Yoichi exclusive. Deep, with a hint of sweetness. Creamy.
