Rich and complex for a white spirit. The rye base provides a heavier texture, making it a versatile and enduring component for mixers and cocktails. The prominent foraged Finnish botanicals are beautifully showcased in this well-made, balanced rye gin.

About this bottle
The Kyrö Distillery Company, established in 2014, operates from an abandoned cheese factory in Isokyrö, Finland, and is dedicated to rye. While awaiting their rye whiskey maturation, they utilize their stills for producing new make spirit and rye-based gin. Kyrö Gin, previously known as Napue Gin, is crafted from rye grain and infused with locally sourced, freshly picked seabuckthorn, wild cranberries, birch leaves, and meadowsweet. The other 12 botanicals remain undisclosed.

On the nose, you'll find lovely botanicals like coriander, birch, and buckthorn. The palate offers a clean, herbal profile; the buckthorn is prominent, accompanied by notes of pepper and a sharp finish reminiscent of rye.
I had this with fever tree spiced orange ginger ale. I'll try it neat or with tonic next time. The ginger might have been too dominant, or perhaps I should have added more gin!
This is enjoyed with tonic, specifically Fever Tree. The blend proved quite delicious and made for an excellent pre-dinner drink.
Juniper on the nose. Lemon peel, anise, and rye spice on the palate. Very smooth.
The gin remains excellent and herbal. It's very enjoyable.
