About this bottle

Mount Gay's Master Blender Collection welcomes its sixth edition with the Sherry Cask Expression, the fifth release under Master Blender Trudiann Branker's supervision. This special blend incorporates some of the distillery's oldest rum stocks, combining pot and column still rums aged for at least 20 years in ex-American whiskey barrels in Barbados. Subsequently, the rums were finished for one year in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. Bottled at 45% ABV without chill-filtration, this expression has a limited availability of 4,200 bottles and was offered at select retailers globally starting in June 2023 for $270.

Strong sherry influence, with an additional burst of sweetness combined with the already rich molasses notes. The scent is like having dessert in a glass. The texture is rich and full of flavor. Sherry notes emerge at the forefront, but between the mid-palate and the deep base, there are various baking spices, charred oak, dark chocolate, flambéed banana, and dark cherry. A lengthy finish leads to a slightly dry and tannic conclusion. In summary, this is outstanding and a welcome addition to the Mount Gay Master Blender Collection.
