About this bottle

George Cowie and his son Dr. Alexander Cowie founded Mortlach in Speyside in 1823. Primarily utilized for blending, Diageo has recently released various expressions as standalone bottlings. This particular bottling is unique among the new releases as it is aged solely in refill American oak casks, without any sherry influence.

Caiden Bernard 2.8

Fruity with an unwelcome stale bread taste. Perhaps its complexity makes up for it? This is a sugary drink. The complex notes include toffee, almond, honey, smoke, and peat. Too much iodine.

Beau Barlow 2.5

Scored 88. The aroma is heavily influenced by alcohol, with a grassy character lacking depth. Quite disappointing for a scotch of this quality and age.
