This single malt originates from the Mortlach distillery and has been matured for 21 years in both first-fill and refill sherry casks before being bottled by Gordon and MacPhail. Founded in 1823, Mortlach employs a complex distillation process that results in the new make spirit being distilled a total of 2.81 times.

I can appreciate this as an interesting scotch, but it's not what I expect from Speysides or scotches in this age category. There are very few distinct notes, but you can detect smoke throughout the experience; otherwise, it's just a salty sherry taste. You should try it if you get the chance, but I would not buy this bottle.
I'm not getting much from this one. It's not among the best I've tasted...slightly spirit-forward. A few drops of water helped it open up a bit.
A quality whisky, but the 21 years of aging were not evident in the taste. It suggests the casks had minimal influence.
27 years old, 52.6% ABV, sherry cask. A really good aroma, good taste, a little water added.
