Alta Rudd 2.8

Aroma: Very fruity and floral with a sweet candy-like quality, similar to Turkish delight or pomegranate molasses. Flavor & Texture: Fruity and sweet with a tart edge. Pomegranate and notes reminiscent of red-berry flavored jelly, but the flavors faded quickly, leaving little aftertaste. This gin is a bright brick-red color when neat, derived from rosella fruit (and possibly rose hips too?). When mixed with tonic water, it turns an attractive, delicate shade of pink. The texture is neutral. Catching up on my review backlog with a few quick-hit reviews. A micro-distillery in suburban Sydney was visited in March 2023. A tasting flight of four gins was shared, served both neat and with suggested garnishes and mixers. This gin was served with optional pomegranate seeds and Fever Tree Indian tonic water. It was found to be enjoyable but not memorable. It is well-balanced, but the pomegranate is a bit dominant. A bottle was not purchased, and tasting it again would likely be skipped. "Average": 79/100 (2.75 stars)
