My initial encounter with Mezcal. It was not a pleasant one. It immediately presented with notes of burnt rubber and a perfumed scent. I instantly wished I hadn't bought it. However, it possessed sufficient depth to make me try another sip. It's intriguing, though not in a good way. The remainder of the bottle is going to someone else.

About this bottle
Oaxaca is the origin of the 100% agave espadín used for Mina Real Mezcal Reposado. Real de Minas Distillery, located in Santa Catarina Minas, employs a steam-roasting method for the agave, which avoids charring the hearts and conserves wood. The mezcal undergoes two distillations in ceramic pot stills and is subsequently aged in used American white oak casks for an unspecified period.

Very intriguing but not a typical mezcal. Sweet aroma with notes of guava and rose. While this mezcal is steamed and lacks intense smokiness, it's complemented by the American oak aging, giving it a warm woody character without the smoke.
