The Midnight Silkie is a mix of single malts that are finished in virgin oak and imperial stout casks. While I'm not an expert on Irish whiskey, this offering is unique in my experience. A friend gave me the bottle as a present, and I'm glad I received it. It has a lovely honey-gold appearance (it's unclear if coloring was added). The scent is broad and sweet, with notes of Honey-Nut Cheerios, ripe pear, and smoky peat. The palate coats the mouth with similar flavors; the alcohol content, slightly above average at 46% ABV, is noticeable but well-managed. The finish is medium in length, with some vanilla and woody tannins on the latter part. Overall, it's a smooth, easy-to-drink pour, though not exceptionally complex. 3.25 out of 5 stars. Non chill-filtered; no age statement; 46% ABV. Note: All spirits were tasted neat from a Glencairn glass.

NOSE Sweet smoky barbecue, earthy malt, grilled fruit from the orchard, Twizzlers, hints of tropical fruit, and a mineral quality. This aroma deviates significantly from typical Irish Whiskey scents, making it intriguing and captivating. PALATE Sweet smoky barbecue, earthy malt, dark fruit, grilled fruit from the orchard, Twizzlers, hints of tropical fruit, minerality, and ash. A bit astringent but pleasant and easy to approach. The sweetness is nicely balanced with the smoke. FINISH Long -> smoky barbecue, malt, Honey Nut Cheerios, toasted marshmallows.
This is the top performer among the silkie range. It leads with peat, but lacks depth. I'd sip it if offered, though I wouldn't purchase a bottle myself
Smells of smoke, vanilla, and grain. A gentle peat and smoke flavor on the palate. The finish is smooth and warm.
A bit strong. With smoke. Price is about 3000 for 0.7 liters (from Otkhni)
Peat and smoke are present in nearly equal measure. It's just sweet enough.
