The nose is intensely smoky, with abundant char, leather, and oak, somewhat like a high west campfire but more harmonious. It evolves into the scent of barbecue, savory meats, and hints of barbecue sauce. As it opens, it becomes a caramel powerhouse. The taste is very savory, with the mesquite barbecue notes strongly present. Small amounts of dark sweetness emerge, with bursts of caramel or dulce de leche. The smokiness is dominant, serving as the primary characteristic throughout. The finish continues with that savory smokiness. It's not prolonged or hot, remaining quite pleasant and light at the end.

Appearance: a very deep amber color. Eventually forms legs, but they move rather quickly. Smell: I detect light fruit and some oak. There's also spice present, but it's subtle and not overwhelming. Taste: A fruity beginning. I get fruit along with a blend of spices. Tangy, sweet, and spicy. This is superb. I believe this might be my favorite rye I have ever tried. Finish?: A long, warm finish with some light spice and barrel notes, but distinct from typical oak. Add water?: Absolutely no need.
Warming spice to start, salted caramel, vanilla, moderate oakiness, dashes of drier hay notes, then some more familiar rye notes with fennel, herbality, black pepper and baking spice kick in. Someone mentioned a kettle corn kind of note that I do pick up 3/4 of the way through the drink. The finish is medium to long with a moderate rye spice and a warm, soothing, and invigorating feeling on a cold day outdoors. Fantastic rye!!!
The aroma offers black cherry, brown sugar, and vanilla, reminiscent of bourbon with faint oak and pepper at the conclusion. The taste is thick and creamy. Rye spice starts upfront, followed by bright fruit and an oaky/dark chocolate bitterness. The finish is packed with pepper and oak. It's drier and more tannic than anticipated, feeling quite young. Rated 8 on the t8ke scale.
Cinnamon, clove, pepper, and oak are on the nose. The palate is rich, featuring subtle cinnamon, toasted sugar, and sweet molasses. The finish is smooth and sweet, making it difficult to identify as a rye and drinking like a 90 proof spirit. While not typically a big fan of Michter's, this one is excellent!
A strong spicy aroma with some vanilla; immense baking spice with caramel, oak, and vanilla; a pleasant, smooth finish of those baking spices; quite dry as anticipated; a nice, substantial texture; remarkably smooth; a fantastic rye
