Indri Drú Cask Strength

Appearance: Vibrant orange hue Aroma: Baked sugar, glazed oranges, and a pleasant maltiness comparable to certain Scotch whiskies. Notably, not much alcohol presence despite the high proof. Taste: Intense glazed oranges and exotic fruits, with cinnamon, hints of vanilla, and a mild alcohol sting. Rich, full-bodied, and utterly delightful. Aftertaste: Sweet ginger, more baking spices, mellow maltiness, and additional orange notes. I instantly desire another sip. This is outstanding. Rich, full, tropical, spicy, intricate. I can't recall the price, but it was definitely worth it and is one of the best value finds I've encountered recently. Indian whiskies are currently excellent.

Aroma of orange zest, a bakery, dulce de leche, and hints of coconut and chocolate mint. The ethanol is surprisingly subdued given the high proof. Initial sips are quite toasted, especially considering my reduced whiskey consumption to about one glass weekly. However, it improves significantly with a good amount of water. The taste offers tropical fruits, orange cream, berries, baking spices, and woody barrel notes. The finish has a peach-like tang reminiscent of some Balcones single malts. I'm an instant fan. Excellent whiskey; I purchased a bottle after sampling the provided pour, a generous gift from a friend. Thank you!

Glass: Glencairn, rested 15 minutes. Color: Medium amber. Nose: Apple, apricot, raisin, with some caramel and vanilla. Palate: More fruit followed by some baking spice and clove. Finish: Medium heat that lasts a long time. Splash: No new flavors are revealed. Overall: 8.5/10 - If this were a bourbon or an American Single Malt, I'd rate it the same. Everything is well done here, and the proof is evident in the finish. A wee bit more complexity would make it a 9/10.

Robust, woody nose with a semi-sweet malt perfume. The palate entry is rich, heavily flavored with deep notes of malted grain, a slight sweetness picked up from the ex-bourbon casks, and a heady, high spiciness of cinnamon on the finish. The body is medium-heavy and hits all sides of the mouth with a vibrant energy. All ends with a long finish that leaves you wanting another dram. Really well done, and one of the finer Indian whiskies tasted.

This is a remarkable find, offering a complex and rich aroma. There's a subtle smokiness, almost like a nod to its Scotch relatives. The taste and finish are comparable to Highland Park 18. It's rich, dark, deep, and the finish is long-lasting. This is now one of my essential purchases.
