About this bottle

Michter's considers whiskies aged between 17 and 20 years to be at a critical stage of development, achieving an "extraordinary" quality. Within this range, Master Distiller Willie Pratt selects barrels for the 20 Year Old Bourbon as they reach peak maturity in the warehouse.

If this isn't the definition of a perfect bourbon, then none exists. Its beautiful, deep amber hue complements the thick and rich mouthfeel. The aroma is reminiscent of all your favorite baking spices - honey, vanilla, brown sugar. The palate introduces some cherry and blackberry, adding depth, though it's not an overtly fruity bourbon. The finish endures for an extended period, bringing forth notes of leather and a hint of spice alongside the sweetness. The heat is well-managed, even at 114 proof, as is the oak for a spirit that has aged for 20 years. Everything is exceptionally harmonious. It's disappointing to know how hard this bourbon is to obtain and how limited my future enjoyment of it will be.

Never buy a bourbon that you regret having poured in the morning. It's too late for me. This is an incredible bourbon, but I dislike the fact that I won't have more of this one once the bottle is empty. Nevertheless, it's an amazing bourbon that was worth every penny, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to acquire it.

Prominent sweet and chocolate aromas on the nose. The initial taste is creamy caramel, feeling very smooth on the palate. It goes down easily and delivers a late impact after the smoothness fades.

Spicy and was my least preferred of the Michter's Flight I sampled, coming after the Unblended and the Toasted. This is just my personal taste, but the Michter's line consistently offers high quality.

Terry Vera 5.0

Intense flavor concentration. Thick, viscous texture. More mellow than the 10 year old. Evokes comparisons to W L Weller BTAC. Extremely long finish. Only a small serving was possible.
