Glen Garioch 15 Year Renaissance

Nose - (without water) Bright floral, lightly tropical, dark apples/pear, starfruit, lightly "meaty" vibe, oaked chardonnay (with water) Opens up more, more light tropical fruits, less meaty, dark muscat grapes Taste - (without water) Fruity spicy ginger, sweet apple/muscat grapes, floral thinned honey, more floral orchard fruits (with water) Filtered apple cider, muscat grapes, floral honey, hint of fruity spice Finish - (without water) Lingering candied ginger tingle, sweet muscat grapes, grape gummies (with water) Lingering fruity tingle, residual muscat sweet, hint of oaked chardonnay Score - 86/100 Final Thoughts - This was quite a tasty dram. I quite liked the tropical vibe I got from it. The "meaty" nature was present without water but mostly went away with a bit of water. I like how this has this nice dark amber muscat grape vibe to it that's quite nice, but at the same time lends itself to be a bit on the sweet side for me. I think it's best with a tiny bit of water to really open it up and balance out the sweetness a bit. Would I drink it if offered? - Yes Would I specifically order it? - Maybe Would I buy a bottle? - Maybe

I truly enjoyed this spirit. It presented with biscuit notes and definitely sherry influence, though it wasn't an overwhelming sherry presence. I favor heavily sherried spirits (e.g., GlenDronach and Aberlour), but with this one, the sherry was more subdued and complemented the bready, yeast-like flavor. I would suggest sharing this with a companion, or someone you're interested in romantically. It's a rich and calming drink, not too complicated and not dull. I suppose that makes it just right.

A focused, smooth, and elegant whisky. It's challenging to isolate specific notes due to the concentrated, refined flavor. Spicy / zesty Reminiscent of orange and ginger, with bright baking spices. Less body and fullness than the 12 year old (highly recommended!), but significantly more elegant. The extended aging has greatly mellowed the alcohol. Despite the 51% ABV, it goes down exceptionally smoothly.

It's potent but still very drinkable without dilution. It delivers spice wherever it touches the palate. It demands to be savored slowly. It pairs well with strong cheese, which tempers the heat and allows for a greater appreciation of the flavor.
