About this bottle

The 2022 offering of Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye was scheduled for release in July 2022. This Kentucky straight rye is composed of rye, corn, and malted barley. Master distiller Dan McKee, along with master of maturation Andrea Wilson, selected this bottling, as with most recent releases. Due to limited availability, this will be the sole 10 Year batch released this year, as the 10 Year Bourbon's release has been postponed to 2023. The suggested retail price is $185.

Nose: dry wood reminiscent of a cedar closet. Faint rye and dill. Lots of wood, lots of rye, and a little cherry. After the first sip, I detected more cinnamon on the nose. Following the second sip, there's more wood and rye present in the aroma. Body: medium to full. Palate: rye, barrel spice, cinnamon, faint caramel, and dark chocolate sweetness. Finish: long and enveloping, featuring caramel, barrel spice, and rye. A truly pleasant finish. Note: the final ounce from the 2022 releases provided by Don. This is a very well-crafted dram. Extremely enjoyable.

Glad to be the inaugural reviewer. Barrel # 22F1957. Sampled neat. Lovely auburn hue. The nose is sweet and delightful, presenting notes of vanilla, oak, maraschino cherries, sea salt, candied pecans, figs, brown sugar, and caramel. On the palate, it's remarkably smooth for a rye, with nutty undertones of pecan/almond, vanilla, wood, cinnamon, and pepper. This is intricate and utterly delicious! I must declare it my favorite Rye to date.

I've awarded very few 5-star ratings. This one merits it. It's well-balanced – the flavor suggests a higher proof, while the ethanol feels like a lower one, a somewhat uncommon feat.

Aroma: cinnamon, baking spice, corn Taste: mirrors the aroma I sampled only a small amount, but it tastes like a $40-50 rye.

Rebekah Sheldon 4.3

Nothing here is disappointing. A touch of oak lends the rye character and maturity. Excellent, as always. 👍
