This is a very interesting tequila. I am writing these tasting notes concurrently with my notes on a standard Anejo from a different producer. These two appear to be entirely different tequilas. The aroma of this Anejo Cristalino is largely lacking the typical agave scent. Instead, it offers a fascinating vanilla pound cake character with perhaps some lemon buttercream. However, it is so faint and delicate that it's barely perceptible. The taste is as intriguing as the aroma. Fortunately, the subtle nature of the nose does not extend to the palate, and this tequila is full of character. Vanilla and butterscotch initiate the sweetness, but some agave is included alongside spicy cinnamon red hots and an interesting herbal eucalyptus. There is definitely a tingling sensation on the tongue from the cinnamon as you approach the finish. The finish maintains the sweetness. There's a vanilla cola quality here – vanilla with some tongue fizz from the cinnamon, which has long since faded but has left a distinct tingling sensation. This one is also very enjoyable, though I would say the Reposado Cristalino is my favorite of the group so far. It makes me want to collect and try them all.
