Adictivo Tequila Extra Añejo

My local shop owner convinced me to buy this bottle, claiming I'd never try another. That's high praise, so let's see. The aroma doesn't smell like tequila at all. It's brown sugar sweet, almost like a brandy, with no hint of the typical agave. The first sip makes me think, 'WTF am I drinking?' Seriously, that's the thought. Sweet sugar floods your mouth, and there's no hint of alcohol burn. This is dangerously drinkable. If you sat down with a bottle, a glass, and no self-control, you'd quickly end up on the floor. If all tequila tasted like this, I might never go back to whiskey. Be warned, this isn't for everyone. Tequila purists will likely condemn this review, but screw them, this is an amazing pour!

I was really anticipating this highly praised tequila, but wow, it's just so incredibly sweet! I'm struggling to believe it wasn't sweetened, as taboo as that might sound, because I'm sure a significant amount of effort went into its creation. Happy others find enjoyment, but this isn't for me.

I really dislike having to be the one to give a low score. I genuinely do not like this. It tastes like butterscotch and cinnamon, but with very little tequila or agave flavor. It's so sweet it's almost like a liqueur. Why wouldn't I just buy my favorite añejo and add sugar to it if that's what I wanted?

Nose: reminiscent of brandy or cognac, with notes of brown sugar and raisin. Palate: evokes brown sugar bubble tea, honey, vanilla, caramel, and raisin. Finish: lingers with the taste of Earl Grey black tea. Enjoyed it immensely, though it's quite sweet, making it best suited as a dessert beverage.

Tastes like bourbon initially, then sweeter than bourbon on the second sip. Ultimately... one of my most preferred tequilas ever. This was the 2018 black bottle. I have a 2019 clear bottle ready to try next!

Simply outstanding for drinking straight. Incredibly smooth, with a finish that lasts and lasts. (I'm terrible at picking out flavors, but I've never enjoyed a tequila more.)
