Lost Spirits Abomination "Sayers of the Law"

AROMA Peat, malt, dried dark fruit, smoked meat, brown sugar, vanilla candy, and char. It has a heaviness and sweetness to the peaty character that reminds me of a very specific Islay distillery. TASTE Peat, cocoa, char, smoked meat, charred plastic, orange peels, baking spice, and ash with a light chemical note. The taste starts nicely and brings to mind the same distillery as the aroma, but devolves into an ashy chemical mess before the finish. FINISH Long -> Smoke, solventy/chemical, ash, and char.

The nose is surprisingly sweet, showing vanilla, BBQ sauce, and dried apricots, with a hint of iodine and, being an Islay, a lot of vegetal peat. The palate is savory and salty, with white pepper, burnt espresso, but also sweetness, a touch of charred vanilla, and dried apricots. The finish is medium, with iodine, smoke, and saltiness, reminiscent of mezcal.

Has the saltiness of Kilchoman but less iodine (though it's detectable). A bit simple in flavor but very pleasant! Worth buying a bottle if it's inexpensive.

Abundant peat. It's clear the producer favors peat and smoke, which masks any potential complexity.

An outstanding pour. Wonderful harmony of peat and sweetness. Could use a bit more depth, but truly fine!
