About this bottle

Los Amantes Joven Mezcal is produced from 100% espadín agave in Tlacolula de Matamoros. The agave hearts, known as piñas, are baked in a traditional stone oven. Afterward, the juices are extracted and ground using an Egyptian-style stone mill operated by horses. The juices then undergo natural fermentation in wooden vats. This mezcal is triple-distilled and bottled without aging.

Sonja Delagarza 3.3

It has a smoky, minty aroma. The taste is barely sweet and intensely smoky, leading to an iodine character with hints of orange peel and a clear dose of mint. Despite these elements, the spice is managed well, and it's a rather smooth drink. It's clearly a mezcal, but not much beyond that. It's drinkable, yet not particularly compelling. For a mezcal, it leans toward the sweeter end. I could certainly drink this and not dislike it. A little goes a long way, which I consider a positive trait. If you appreciate mezcal profiles, this offers a good blend of them with a pleasant finish. Conversely, if mezcal isn't your preference, you won't enjoy this.

I truly appreciate the well-rounded and intriguing flavor of this mezcal; and its price is fair.

It lacked the smoky aroma and finish I desired. A slight warmth on the finish.
