Extremely spicy and smoky, to the point that its sweetness is overshadowed, bringing it closer to an oaky single malt.

About this bottle
Angostura 1824 Rum is made on Trinidad from rich sugar cane molasses. Fermentation lasts 48-72 hours, and distillation occurs in continuous column-stills. Angostura 1824 is aged in new, ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 12 years before blending and recasking. It is bottled at 80 proof in Angostura’s characteristic square bottle. The year 1824 marks when Dr. Siegert developed what is now known as Angostura aromatic bitters.

A very mellow rum, but I anticipated more flavor considering its price. The 1919 offers better value.
The nose has light vanilla bean and citrus zest. The palate features vanilla bean and crème brûlée. Oak notes are present.
A hint of molasses. A significant depth of character.
Too thin, a bit alcoholic.
Chocolate, vanilla, crème brûlée
