About this bottle

This limited edition is the second installment in Laphroaig's The Elements series, which explores innovation and creativity in whisky production. Laphroaig focused on fermentation duration for this single malt, using longer fermentations, some extending to 115 hours—more than twice the usual length—to observe the flavor effects. It is bottled without chill-filtration at 59.6% ABV, with US availability commencing in July 2024 (SRP $165/700ml).

Laphroaig tried a new, extended fermentation (three times the usual length) and produced an outstanding high-proof spirit. It's effervescent and smooth with smoky, fruity notes and a honey finish reminiscent of the sea. You would never believe it's 119 proof. Other distilleries could learn from this.

This is incredible! You can definitely detect the Laphroaig characteristics with the salinity and peat, but it's subdued, and the fruit covered in toffee sweetness is nearly an equal component.

Jodie Kopp 4.0

Won a blind tasting against another spirit. Very creamy, with flavors of lactose and bright floral notes.
