Renae Gibson 4.0

The nose immediately gives off a smoky scent, alongside notes of burnt sugar and perhaps a very faint trace of banana. The first taste is initially a bit sweet, with flavors of plum and smoke. The sweetness then gives way to a deeper smoky taste as you swallow. The finish also changes gradually, leaving a flavor reminiscent of slightly unripe nuts. It's a surprisingly mellow taste considering the robust aroma. Adding a little water brings out caramel and sweet fruit scents by toning down the smoke. However, the water seemed to mute the flavor and emphasize the spirit's character, so I can't suggest doing that. Conclusion: A fairly easy-going taste, yet a surprisingly intricate and complex palate despite the simple smell. A great spirit for a peaceful and relaxing evening on a warm summer night!

Acquired at the Iceland duty-free. We often bring this out after barbecues. It's a favorite of several companions of mine now.

Israel Naylor 5.0

Engaging and smoky, a fantastic introduction to the Japanese mastery of distillation.

Amiyah Minor 3.0

Acceptable. It's pleasing but unremarkable.

Nicole Heaton 4.0
