I had anticipated that the name "Storm" would suggest extra peat and/or a coastal character. However, that's not the case. There's a subtle earthy, vegetal peat reminiscent of Highland Park, but it's not overpowering. The unique aspect here is the use of older single malts, including some sherry-aged ones, blended with the same grain whiskies found in the standard Cutty Sark. The outcome isn't bad, particularly for the price, but it's not particularly remarkable. It features flavors of sherry, light smoke, and light vegetal peat, along with vanilla and tequila. There are also notes of rubbing alcohol, strawberries, some floral elements, crab apples, and pickled ginger. Hints of popcorn butter, sea salt, earthiness, and ash are present, possibly soy sauce. Some of the component single malts, like Macallan and Highland Park, are genuinely recognizable in this blend. For the $30 Canadian I paid, it's a decent option, but it's certainly not an exceptional whisky.

Cutty Sark Storm became available in some global markets in 2012, excluding the U.S. at that time. Master Blender Kirsteen Campbell developed the blend using grain whiskies from North British and malts from distilleries such as Highland Park and Macallan, similar to other Cutty Sark expressions. This bottling distinguishes itself with a higher proportion of malt and older spirit components.

An intriguing spirit with a pleasant aroma and a robust palate. While not the absolute best whiskey, it's certainly not lacking. On the nose, citrus is prominent, alongside creamy vanilla, prunes, and lemon notes (zest, pie). The palate is slightly less striking but still good, featuring caramel, a peppery kick, salt, and a resemblance to Talisker with a hint of peat. The finish is brief, with notes of bitter tobacco and ginger. Overall, a very decent whiskey that, while not life-changing, is definitely worth savoring occasionally. 81/100
You can certainly detect the influence of older spirits in this blend. It's fruity and somewhat smoky with a short to medium finish. It's superior to most of its competitors in the same price bracket, though I prefer the Prohibition Edition.
Oh wow... the mid-80s rating is surprising... I always thought Cutty Sark was a budget option.
No negative aspects, with notes of honey, vanilla, grain, and a subtle fudge, but lacking significant complexity or mouthfeel.
