- Single Malt - Aged in ex-Bourbon American oak and finished for 14 months in ex-Port wine European oak - Produced in collaboration with Bar Caledônia / SP - Limited edition of 250 bottles - 50% ABV - Non-chill filtered / no caramel coloring - 1-liter bottle Nose: Sweet, wine-like, smoky, ash, red berry jam (strawberry or maraschino cherry), dark fruits, minty, wet woodsy, light vanilla, light honey, caramel, and a slight spice with present but not aggressive alcohol. Very balanced aromas, and while Lamas has a unique process and identity, some fruity notes are reminiscent of some Scottish whiskies. Palate: Quite sweet, wine-like, smoky, ash or extinguished fire, spicy, warm, robust bitterness, lingering red fruit notes, light woodiness, minty, and alcohol warmth. Although less complex on the palate than the nose, this whisky partially matches the aroma and is still very enjoyable. Finish: Medium to long, primarily due to the bitterness and smoke. General Impressions: A great whisky and, so far, one of my favorite Lamas labels. This bottle changes significantly (for the better) as it's consumed, and the aromas and flavors seem to become more balanced. Letting this whisky rest in the glass for 5 or 10 minutes helps reveal the more "hidden" notes and mellow the 50% ABV. I recommend sipping it neat, with ice, or with a splash of water.

Delicious... even better than Caledonia 1 in every way! Smooth alcohol even at 50%... adding a sip of water elevates it further!!!
