Soft, mild peat and a floral, vanilla cream nose. Oily feel. The light peat becomes floral, like the Highlands. Lime custard, white pepper, and a touch of oak. The finish is a little drying. My first pour was a disappointment, but it's much better as the bottle opens up.

About this bottle
Kilmory is a foundational release from LAGG Distillery, a heavily peated operation on the Isle of Arran Distillers. This single malt was entirely matured in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% ABV with no artificial coloring or chill-filtration. LAGG draws its name from the final legally established distillery on Arran, which ceased operations in 1837. Following its UK launch in summer 2023, it became available in the US starting June 2024 (suggested retail price $74.99/700ml).

92 proof. Aged in former bourbon barrels. 50 PPM. Earthy, fruity peat, toasted barley, toasted caramel, toasted lemon, graham cracker, marshmallow, sweet corn with brown sugar, butter, charred oak, coffee, brownies, unique, candied bacon.
I strongly disagree with the professional review. This is a fascinating, artisanal single malt that is simultaneously peaty, oily, and creamy. It's a superb drink...and I'll be having many more glasses of it.
Aroma: alcohol, light peat, medicinal Taste: strong peat, pine, chilli Aftertaste: long, heavy While I enjoy peaty Scotches, this one won't be joining my favorites list.
Smoked eel! Among the most raw-tasting whiskies I've encountered. Definitely an acquired preference! After a year, it's less vegetal and more, for lack of a better description, 'fishy' (?).
Purchased at a liquor shop near Ximenting in Taipei. Light color, starts sweet but finishes with some bitterness. I won't buy it again.
