Jose Cuervo Platino

Rating: 16/23 Nose: A slight peppery heat with a touch of ethanol. An oily savoriness similar to Fortaleza blanco. Hints of mint and lime. A very faint applewood barbecue smoke, almost unnoticeable. Aside from the ethanol, this is quite pleasant. The pepper might be a bit too strong. Palate: Oily with a savory character and a rich, sweet syrup flavor. A white pepper burn is present but not harsh. I do wish the pepper had more distinct flavor, though. I'm detecting some mint and lime peel as well. There's a papery quality with a hint of mustiness, but it tastes good overall. Occasionally, a surprising burst of vanilla appears. This palate is very well-balanced, apart from slightly too much pepper. I really enjoy the richness and fullness here. Finish: Clean with a lasting oily richness and viscosity. The core flavor persists as a minty coolness becomes more apparent, wafting gently. - Conclusion - This is a truly decadent spirit that I can spend a good amount of time contemplating. It's quite similar to Fortaleza Blanco (17/23), though likely not quite as good. I'm inclined to give this a 17 as well, but it could certainly be a 16.

Clean tequila scent detected. Potent agave notes are prominent. It flows smoothly with a strong peppery character, yet lacks greenness or oiliness, leaning towards a glycerol sensation. The finish is superior. Extra note: This rather neutral tequila will take on flavors, like from a lemon wedge, completely altering its profile, making it quite unpredictable in mixed drinks. End note.

A transparent Reserva De La Familia that matches its aged sibling. Delightful, rich, and smooth. Identical taste to the aged version but lighter and more refreshing. Superb. If only it were not a limited release. Not sold in Ontario at this time.

A crisp Agave Spirit made at NOM 1122. It has an aromatic beginning with notes of agave, fruits, flowers, herbs & spices, while a rich life led to a balanced conclusion of medium length. May 2017

Definitely a top pick for me! I just happened upon a bottle in Ann Arbor. If you come across one, grab it. It's scarce.
