About this bottle

This bottling represents one of the flagship offerings from the rebranded New York Distilling Co., overseen by Allen Katz and Tom Potter. The rye used is the Horton variety, a grain first cultivated in New York state during the 17th century, grown by the Pedersen Family Farm. It is aged in 53-gallon barrels that have undergone a #3 char. The production adheres to Bottled-In-Bond standards, resulting in a bottling proof of 100.

Nose: surprisingly mellow, with some soft caramel, baking spice, and a distinct rye sweetness coming through, but nothing remarkable. Palate: Viscous. Similar to thin eggnog! Rich rye and dried tropical fruit, with soft baking spices blended in. A few drops of water do little to enhance the taste or aroma. Finish: Long. The creaminess carries everything except the warming alcohol and mostly settles into the rich sweetness, adding some subtle grain. This resurrected Horton rye used to make this really makes its presence known. The dry pepper and baking spice that Ragtime was known for takes a secondary role to the creamy, sweet dried fruit character of Horton rye! Delightful, cheers.
