Jack Daniel's 10 Year Tennessee Whiskey (Batch 3)

Smell: Damp, burnt wood. Sweetness like red candy. Oaky caramel. The aroma is quite sweet. I could enjoy smelling this for a long time. Taste: Sweet wood. A clean entry. Full of flavor for something under 100 proof. Tastes like almonds kept in a wooden box. A very subtle hint of powdered hot cocoa appears near the end. Finish: Smooth and fleeting, leaving oak tannins on my gums. Only when breathing out afterward do I detect the typical ‘Jack Banana’ flavor, and it leans more towards an unripe banana from the store. I actively sought this out and missed it at the large chain liquor store in town. I eventually located it at a local shop and paid more... Is it worth the suggested retail price? Yes, if you are a devoted fan of special Jack Daniel's releases (and I truly am a BIG fan). Is it worth $119? I'm still pondering that, but I'm pleased to have it in my collection regardless. 85/100

First pour. The aroma is fantastic and truly develops with time. The taste is reminiscent of JD triple mash, which is quite good. It has a smooth texture and mouthfeel, differentiating it from the triple mash. Oak is certainly present. It's worth the suggested retail price, but I wouldn't pay more than that currently, especially since the triple mash is available for half the cost. I enjoyed batch one's 12-year offering, and this one doesn't quite measure up, in my opinion. Eager to see how this evolves as I drink more.

Boro Bourbon and Brews Aroma: Welcoming notes of molasses, baking spices, and caramel popcorn. Initial taste: It delivers all the classic bourbon characteristics you'd expect. It has a very smooth, silky texture, finishing like chocolate pie. Second taste: There's a sweet char flavor that I'm struggling to describe. Overall, I enjoyed it! Highly recommended. One surprising aspect is the absence of the banana note commonly found in most Jack Daniels products.

May need to reassess after drinking on ice, but drinking neat wasn't great for me. The flavor was good but not exceptional, and it was a little hotter than I expected. Decent finish that was somewhat rough.

The balance is outstanding. It's not overly complex, but the subtle drying oak truly complements the sweet and lightly spicy notes. For the proof, the mouthfeel and finish are nearly perfect.
