Neat. Poured from the neck. This marks my initial encounter with a Light Whiskey. Distilled by MGP, aged 12 years, at 137 proof. As anticipated, the aroma is potent. It boasts intense butterscotch, incredibly rich. There's some pleasant fruitiness, which I'd liken to blueberries. Notes of caramel and vanilla are present, alongside graham cracker and cotton candy. Simply put, it's overwhelmingly sweet. The texture is quite viscous and syrupy. On the palate, it begins darkly with a maple syrup character. It electrifies the mouth with flavor. An explosion of that butterscotch emerges. This transitions into the blueberries, then circles back to the caramel, concluding with the graham cracker. The caramel flavor lingers. Damn, that's delicious. Officially a fan of MGP Light Whiskey. So rich and full of flavor. That proof is extreme and assaults the nose if you inhale too deeply, but it doesn't dominate the taste. It's potent, there are waves of warmth, but it never assaults the palate with ethanol. A risky buy that paid off. This is an excellent pour.
