Drank it neat. The aroma is quite fruity, with notes of apples, cherries, vanilla, oak, toast, toasted marshmallows, caramel, pecan pie, pecan pralines, white pepper, creme brรปlรฉe, brown sugar mixed with butter straight from the microwave, and a hint of Himalayan salt. The mouthfeel is incredibly smooth with a pleasant warmth at the end. It's delicious! A perfect bottle to open before Thanksgiving dinner with a friend. Also, I spent too much because I really wanted this bottle, what the hell ๐คฃ

About this bottle
The brand's fully matured Sour Mash Whiskey forms the base for Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash Whiskey. This mash bill, though undisclosed, lacks sufficient corn for bourbon and enough rye for rye classification. Subsequently, the whiskey undergoes further aging in toasted barrels, with the toast level chosen by Michter's Master of Maturation, Andrea Wilson. This bottling, which debuted in 2019, is making its second appearance, becoming available in the US and export markets starting in September 2022.

The inviting aroma features maple, apples, and toasted pecans with a buttery crust, which carries through to the taste. Oak is prominent initially, then gracefully yields to apple and pecan pie flavors. When paired with vanilla ice cream, it enhanced a bright, almost McIntosh apple taste. A slight tartness emerges, similar to Chinese pineapple orange sauce, but very subtle. Delicious, thoroughly enjoyed!
Nose: peppery, floral, spicy, anise, with a small layer of fruit. Palate: more pepper and dusty oak. Mild apples, rye spice, a decent amount of floral notes. Good mouthfeel. Light and well-balanced. Finish: more leather and oak. Rye spice. A 6 on the t8ke scale. The MSRP is high. It's tasty, but it should be competing with 1910 and Woodford DO. Despite the low proof, Michter's always manages to extract every possible bit of flavor.
Thanks to a friend! Nose of leather, pecan pie, brown sugar, praline, pear, charcoal, oak, apple, and roasted nuts. Sweet and tart taste, with flavors of pecan pie, leather, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oak, and spiced pears. A spicy, toasted finish. It smells truly decadent and wonderful, with distinct sweet and sour elements on the palate. Nice!
Nose: grainy and sweet with nutty undertones. Palate: cherry and smoke appear first, not too sweet, followed by cherry and chocolate that fades into rye spice notes like mint and star anise. The finish is medium length, with a marshmallow creaminess and a pleasant bite. Some lingering smoke. Extremely smooth and easy to drink. Enjoyable!
The aroma has notes of barrel char, maple, and brown sugar. The taste mirrors those scents. It's rich, smooth, and heavily toasted, with a noticeable viscosity. The finish is satisfyingly long, not from alcohol burn, but from a lingering spice from the toast. All in all, quite good.
